I had always been put off by this places appearence. However i went last wednesday for an acoustic night and there was a really nice atmosphere. The staff were all extremely friendly, the drinks reasonably priced and the acts on this particular night were well worth the small entry fee of a pound.

Initially only going to support a friends band, I was taken aback and very impressed with the 4 bands playing at the Tigers lair last Thursday, the bands I remember the names of were Lips Akimbo, Vinny & the Stars and The Buccaneers.
All 4 bands were excellent and involved a mixture of blues, slide guitar (a clever and original piece of microphone use), rock, ska, punk and even- for those of you out there who know who they are- a subtle mix of Sublime style to the evening.
Needless to say i will be keeping my eye on the future gigs of these Leed and York based bands and also be trying to get down to the Tigers lair more often seen as theyre hosting gigs every Thurs now apparently...
