Colourful Cocktail Competition With the Hull Colour Pages
After helping judge the 2nd heat of the Cocktail Competition at Jaz Bar I was keen to see who and what was gonna peer over the bar at the next heat. The 2nd Heat was brilliant, full of different flavours, colours, concoctions and cocktails beyond my wildest dreams! It was a brilliant night, but then again any night that includes free drinks would be classed as brilliant.
I’d never noticed how much effort and thought Bar tenders actually take when making your drink, but then again a pint of Strongbow is about as exotic as I go, occasionally I might slide onto the Vodka Redbull but again doesn’t take a genius to whip that wonder out.
Anyhoo less of my ramble. It was heat 3, the 3rd and final heat of the Colourful Cocktail Competition so all was very tense, I took along the video camera to catch this one on film. Some guy from stream online was there filming too you can watch the video here Click Here
Or even better, you can watch my video here Click Here
There were more contestants in this round along with a fair few familiar faces too, who had previously entered the other heats and were trying a third and final time to make it through to the Semi Final. Contestants from all over including Sharkeys, The Weir, Revolution, Jaz Bar, Fantasy and Attic all battling the bottles to win over the judges.
This was the bar tenders last chance to make it through, so it was a hell of a lot more tense than the previous heat. With more Contestants came more supporting friends, making a bigger audience. The extra two cameras pointing in their faces couldn’t have helped either (sorry guys!).
I thought to myself, surely these guys are used to making their drinks under pressure but there’s something a little different from shutting up that drunk tw*t with a pint on a Saturday night to carefully choosing what temperature the drink should be served at whilst hand picking the Strawberries its served with and choosing only the finest Vodka once drank by a Polish King somewhat hundreds of years ago.
It’s the Semi-Final At Revolution on Tuesday 14th August and I’ll be following this one up to see who then goes into the final at the Global Food Festival in the City Centre on Saturday 25th August under the big screen. I’m gutted that I wont be able to make the Final because I’ll be pitched up in a tent at Leeds Festival but I’ll catch up on all the info when I return hungover and stinking of mud on the Monday.
Good luck guys!
