Ive seen these live quite a few times and always found em to be a bit pony to be honest
Strip away the amateur dramatics, the make-up and the costumes and youre not left with much of any substance
Least of all any decent tunes
Although Ill grant you its a good few months since I last saw em
Maybe theyve got a new, improved set?

Kill Surf City @ Lamp…
Kill Surf City @ The Lamp Sidekicks Lounge 13/06/07
After Kill Surf City have trenched around Hull with numerous gigs and numerous mentions in Sandman, Nousse etc, it’s hard not to notice these guys.
Kill Surf City headlined at last nights Sidekicks Lounge. The 5 decorated the stage with flowers (awww) and decorated themselves to suit the mood.
These guys have got excellent stage presence with the frontman Dave who gives a wicked performance. A real character who strutted on stage in true Joker style in tight trousers, and long tuxedo jacket, waistcoat and top hat. He’s got real robotic moves and really gets into the music, a real crowd pleaser. My Favourite tune, being ‘A Common interest in Silence’ a brilliant song that you can really imagine dancing to and if I wasn’t there reviewing by myself I probably would have done.
There style is Alternative/ Indie with the vocalist have a voice a little like Brian Molko from Placebo. As I watched the 5 showing The Lamp ‘what for’ I thought to myself, these guys would look ace in a black and white old style video with Dave letting lose all of his moves as the stage at Lamp seemed to be a little cramped for this energetic five-some. They’re vintage look really suits their style of music and it was a shame that the crowd at the lamp were so static, I really thought that these guys deserved a group of loud mouths bellowing ‘MORE!’ at their last song. If you’re an indie lover you’ll definitely love a slice of these guys, take a listen on their myspace www.myspace/killsurf city and take a look at the pics from the night www.hullvibe.co.uk/gallery/artist/261/Kill_Surf_ ...
I’m really looking forward to seeing these guys at The East Park Rocks Festival on 1st September, then they’ll be on the bigger stage they deserve.
Speak Soon,
Lucyla
