The Killers made their first visit to Hull a memorable one with a energetic performance in front of a sell out crowd. Following a good support from The Brakes, The seats filled, the beer queues shortened and the crowd surged towards the stage as everybody got into position for the main event. And they were not disappointed.
As the lights went down, and a seemingly never ended Russian ditty was played, the crowd roared as Brandon Flowers and the boys took to the stage. They opened with a couple of tracks from the new album Sams Town, including the first single of the evening with When We Were Young. But it was with Somebody Told Me from their debut album Hot Fuss that the gig really took off. Brandon took off his suit jacket, the party lights came on and the crowd were in full swing singing along with Smile like you mean it. Another couple of Sams Towns tracks, including the latest single Bones, keep up the energy and Jenny was a Friend of Mine kept fans of the first album happy. Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll was crooned in unison with adoring crowd and then a show stealing Mr Brightside finish off a brilliant first set.
Nobody was leaving though as they returned for an encore with My List, a happy birthday song to the sound man (!), For reasons unknown and then a fantastic rendition of the Anthem, All these things that Ive done. The Killers left the stage only to return for the exitude to cap off a great night.
Apart from the over priced beer and occasional poor sound, Hull Arena and The Killers put on a great show. Brandon Flowers was amazing as the exuberant front man and Mr Brightside stand out song from numerous highlights of a great gig.

Ok, The Killers first album (Hot Fuss) was absolutely amazing and it was going to be hard to beat, we always knew that. Sams Town hit the record shops and went straight to Number 1 in the album chart. But do people really like it? I personally didnt………..Until last night!
Brandon and Co really rocked the roof off the Ice Arena last night playing a selection from there new album with a few classics thrown in to keep the crowd lively. For me, Mr Brightside was the highlight of the night with it been my favourite track. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their new stuff and im pretty sure the rest of the crowd was too! It was the same feeling at razorlight, thier second album Razorlight seemed melow and not very Rock and Roll but soon as Johnny got up and played it live, it was a whole different story!
It’s the first time Ive seen The Killers live and Id heard good things about them so already had high expectations. However the Ice Arena is renound for bad sound quality so I didn’t really know what to expect. I was not disappointed in fact i was blown away, Brandon is a professional and sounded awesome live. I havnt heard a bad word said about it yet, everybody I speak to that went had a great night and like me would pay money to go see them again tomorrow. But, if you think differnent let me know!
Oh, and one last thing - I think its about time Brandon got rid of the tash now, it was ok for a laugh but does he seriously like it?!?!

They mixed up first and second albums and a few new songs I hadnt heard. Encore with All These Things That I Have Done was class.
