Tuesday - Mugwump at Sharkeys, George Street, Hull, 3 band indie guitar biil busting at the seams with great bands: Liberty Stands, The Bron-y-aurs & The 500 Club - first band on at 9pm - free entry and just down the road from Attic if you want a great warm up before Grapevine

Wednesday - The Nith Circle at Sharkeys, George Street, Hull, another 3 band bill and certainly something a bit bit different for our rock/metal night - headliner Hayokee playing progressive, hurdy gurdy driven hard rock guaranteed to get your head nodding & feet taping. hey hey hey, I got told off by one of the forum users for nicking your thread a while ago

I guess Linnet is going to be a little busy tonight, personally 59 Violets are my favourites on that line up, closely followed by The Talks and am I the only person in Hull not to like The Paddingtons stuff? My claim to fame is giving their first single a bad review in the Hull Daily Mail a few years ago. show how much I know eh?

Hope you have a good one tonight and if there is room I might squeeze into Grapevine for a pint later.

cheers Darren, Music HQ

ps what a week for local gigs, ours, The Sesh & a great line up at The Lamp on Wednesday as well plus loads of other stuff going on.

Tonight Music HQ brings you two excellent gigs in Hull, first up is the long running and highly popular Acoustic Wednesday at The Lair, Anlaby Road, Hull - £2 entrance, doors open at 8pm, live music from 9pm. Free parking in the Railway Station car park next door.

Tonight featuring Beverleys Fudgey, seen recently at The Beverley Folk Festival & Cotitngham Music Festival and a great live performer, Jonny Dobbs from York who is making his frist visit to a Music HQ gig but comes very highly recommended, Amazing Doug, American singer/songwriter who is making a very quick return to The Lair after a great gig a month ago. Also we may have a special guest in the shape of Andy Sneak who hasnt played live for a while but has promised to come along and play some of his great reggae/ska based material.

Also tonight we have The Ninth Circle metal/rock night at Sharkeys on George Street, Hull, free entrance, live music from 9.30pm and tonight featutring two great bands, first up is In:Audium www.myspace.com/inaudium who are making their live debut with a brand new line up, well known a few years ago on the local circuit playing heavy riff based metal with their own twist. They used to be one of the local bands I would go out of my way to see so I am really looking forward to their set.
Headliners at Sharkeys are Interstate who visit Hull as part of their UK tour check out their great songs at www.myspace.com/interstateexecution

see you all later,

cheers Darren, Music HQ

did you not read I was recommending the Zealots who where playing at the Sesh before mentioning our gig at Sharkeys?

Also great post by Mak, if I had £20,000 grand spare I would back the CD and tour, am availble for sound engineer/road managing if it ever comes off, and Mak is right the scene is getting back some real energy and vibrancy again musically with the bands he mentions plus many more.

Long time - no email - gigs this week from Music HQ

Hi folks,

its been a while since I have had chance to email out one of our weekly gig listings as we have been so busy at the Cottingham Festival (which was a massive success) and sound engineering at the Beverley Folk Festival (great fun in the Wold Top Tent), getting involved with the upcoming Filey Free Music Festival (25th & 26th July - more info to follow) and all our regular gigs.

But here is what we have coming up this week, and its some blindingly brilliant gigs:

Tuesday 8th July - Mugwump at Sharkeys, George Street, Hull featuring the excellent Silverlode www.myspace.com/thesilverlode from Leeds playing a rocking acoustic set, they stole the show at the Duke Of Cumberland venue on the Friday night of the Cottingham Festival gaining a whole raft of new fans. Support comes from the busiest Hurdy Gurdy player I know in Dr Q, many will have seen him with Hayokee or the Axel Rose Jazz Funk Experience but tonight its a solo set featuring samples, beats and hurdy gurdy. Its a cracking gig and free entry!!!! www.myspace.com/mugwumpthinking

Wednesday 9th July - The Ninth Circle at Sharkeys, George Street, Hull featuring top local power metal rockers Heat-Ray www.myspace.com/heatraymetal with their new CD launch night, support comes from Pastel Jack www.myspace.com/pasteljack who won the last Battle Of The Bands at The Goose & Granite. It will be massive and your chance to get Heat-Rays CD for just £1 !!!!
www.myspace.com/9thcircleofhell

Wednesday 9th July - Acoustic Wednesday at The Lair, Anlaby Road, next to the Railway Station Car Park. Its a packed Acoustic Wednesday featuring Nyko Morgan from Germany, Doug Peters, Freya, Farino & Phil Sholtysec - its an acoustic cracker and just £2 entrance, doors open from 8pm and live music from approx 9pm

For more info on Music HQ and our gigs/services email darren.bunting@yahoo.co.uk or contact us via www.myspace.com/musichq

cheers Darren
