The Favours

The Sesh 10/07/07

Another Tuesday, another tail wagging Sesh at the Linnet & Lark.

I strolled in at around 10pm to an absolutely rammed venue! It was freezing outside but within half a second of walking in you were immediately warmed up!

I'd just missed the 1st band 'Ivy Sins' and was in a rant with myself as I’d planned to catch 'em.

Anyhoo, gets in, gets to the bar, got a drink and planted myself towards the stage.

The Favours where just about to come on so I’d made it in perfect timing. Brilliant, they were just setting up and after about 2mins of lead plugging, mic checking and hair twiddling they were good to go.

It was bloody good to finally see a lady up on stage, guitar in hand and showing the guys 'what for'. Sara Sanchez may only be tiny but the atmosphere she creates isn't.

The Favours have got some really catchy tunes that got a few people moving in the Linnet but...like every Sesh, its only usually the first few rows of people that are really into it, others are far too crammed to budge as they're trying to catch a peek at what's going on.

They sounded great being back at The Sesh. I thought the vocals could have been a little better at times but hey, who am I to talk? I woke up feeling and sounding like tiny elves had been sanding down the walls of my throat in my sleep.

The gig didn't exactly kick off to a good start to be honest folks, Sara snapped a string after the first song and it took about 10 mins to replace her Guitar. It was bloody typical that everything was being recorded on Raw Talent! Sods law innit?!

These things can't be helped I guess, and after she was back with Guitar in hand nobody really seemed to notice. And then BANG! They were back in the room.

They've definitely got tunes that you can dance too and their song 'Islands' is a corker! You can check out the video at http://www.myspace.com/thefavours

I actually think that these guys should have maybe headlined The Sesh this Tuesday, not that I don’t love 'Kill Surf City' but The Favours, I think deserved it as it'd been a while since they've been back in the Hull circuit and Kill Surf City are hard not to notice nowadays! ... Don’t mean that in a bad way guys!

Plus they're out promoting the Release of Single 'Islands' that out on 17th September.... I might just have to treat myself!

That's it for now, I'll be going to Lamp tonight to check out Lecorum's home coming gig. I'll let you know what it was like :-)
