HullVibe: Who would you compare your sound too?
The Strands: The Who! We’ve got our own sound really. We’ve got the balls of Oasis with Zeppilin solos. Dean’s got a voice like Kelly Jones. I think we’re bordering on unique, not bigging ourselves up or anything! Theres no, ‘Lets stamp our feet and bang the drums and look as cool as we can’ we’re all about music completely.
HullVibe: How long have you been together?
The Strands: About 6 weeks! Drums and guitar got together at Christmas but we’ve all been together for 6 weeks.
HullVibe: What was your first gig like?
The Strands: It was at Durty Nellies, it was alright, they invited us back straight away. And that’s where we got our second gig from at The Lamp. We were on with The Dogs last week.
HullVibe: Whats the best gig you’ve done?
The Strands: The Lamp, we got our NME gig out of it.
HullVibe: Are you playing any festivals?
The Strands: 2 local festivals, Hornsea festival and Cockstop, is it cockstop or cockfest?! I can’t remember, its in Preston.
HullVibe: Wheres your favourite place to play in Hull?
The Strands: So far it’s the lamp but I’m sure it’ll be The Welly
HullVibe: What do you think about the gig you’ve just played at the Linnet?
The Strands: It was alright
HullVibe: Out of 10?
The Strands: 8, 71/2. If it was for dropping drumsticks it’d be a 2! We’ll say 7 ½
HullVibe: Whats your favourite Hull band?
The Strands: The Strands!
HullVibe: What do you think of the smoking ban?
The Strands: Its gonna cause mayhem! Theres gonna be people in the streets fighting because they can’t have a fag. People’ll be going mad. I’m so mad.
HullVibe: What’s the first thing you do after you’ve finished a gig?
The Strands: First thing I do is go into the Toilets, take my shirt off and rub my pits down!
I give Mat a big kiss on the mouth! And tell him how sexy he was! And that’s about it!

The Strands: Going to Attic!
HullVibe: How often do you reherse?
The Strands: About twice a week, sometimes less
