MEAN FIDDLER PRESENTS
CARLING WEEKEND BRAMHAM PARK, LEEDS 2007!
Melvin Benn MD Mean Fiddler group
Leeds Festival Press day 2007
Melvin first introduced himself and the main event sponsors: Carling, NME, Nokia and Top Man
Nokia have set up a scheme where you can check who’s playing in which tent on whichever day on your mobile! As long as you have access to java on your mobile you can access this timetable, which is great as it updates itself if any bands pull out or have been moved to another stage. Bad news for program sellers!
You’ll also be able to make your own schedule so you’re phone’ll go off when your due to see a band!
Melvin promoted the Topman unsigned stage as this is what festivals are about. Examples of bands like Pigeon detectives, who’ve previously played in the unsigned tent but now appearing on main stages this year. Even though it’s called the unsigned tent, the quality of some of the acts means that some are now actually signed bands.
Some of the bands from the Topman unsigned tent were present at the press day, including Hull band The Talks. Scaramanga Six, The Swing Movement and Twisted Wheel.
When mentioning The Talks Melvin also mention that he was from Hull (Wahey!) and it turns out that he’s from Bilton Grange!
New this year!...
Rewards for recycling!
Beer will be served in paper cups this year and if you collect so many paper cups and return them back to the bar staff you’ll receive a free pint OR money back worth the price of a pint! –not bad if you get a bit skint after day 2!
BUT….. to accomadate for this the price of a pint will be going up 10p…BOO!
2 x Bin liners will also be provided to each camper to urge you to re-cycle!
FLOOD WORRIES AT LEEDS FESTIVAL CAN IT BE CANCELLED?!
The answer to this one my fellow fest lovers is NO! It can’t be cancelled and the event can cope with whatever the weather throws at us this year… Melvin assured us that the site is pretty flood resistant because of its layout and positioning of the facilities.
SMOKING BAN AT LEEDS FESTIVAL
The tents are classed as indoor areas so I’m afraid there’ll be no smoking in any of the tents…..do what you like in your own J
EARLY ENTRY
festival buses from the bus/coach Station in Leeds will be running for those who are lucky and eager enough to have early entry passes BUT there will be no entertainment on the day or evening, you’ll literally be let in and that’s it!
