JAZ TO CHAMPION LOCAL BEEF FARMERS AND BUTCHERS
IN SUNDAY LUNCH COOK OFF
As part of its commitment to source and champion local producers, The Jaz Café Bar in Saturday Market, Beverley, has mounted a Sunday Lunch cook-off competition in its search for a local beef butcher or farmer to supply it with quality beef.
The head chef at the Beverley bar is looking for local beef farmers or butchers to enter the competition in which 4 will be selected to provide beef for the traditional Sunday roast at Jaz. Customers will be invited to vote on the best beef on their plate over 4 consecutive Sundays and the winner will secure a contract to supply the bar with its quality meat.
"There has been a real cultural shift in people buying local produce and a tangible change in our attitudes towards food. Diners are now very interested in where the food on their plate comes from and we feel strongly about making good, wholesome and healthy food available for our diners. We are keen to buy the best local ingredients for our menus and this competition will give one butcher or farmer the chance to supply the bar group," said Simon Mountford, proprietor of the Jaz Café Bar group.
The Jaz Café Bar is totally committed to sourcing and supporting its local suppliers and community. More and more diners recognise the importance of local, seasonal food, produced in a way which helps conserve the landscape, communities and culture of the countryside.
