In July 2006, ten years to the month after they originally formed, InMe amicably parted company with life-long friend and bassist Joe Morgan, bringing to an end the first phase of the band’s eventful career. A phase that had included, among other highs and lows, three top 40 singles, a number one album in the rock charts and magazine covers alongside endless touring and festival appearances. And while many bands would struggle to recover from losing an original member, not wanting to give up their passion and ambition for music, guitarist and vocalist Dave McPherson and drummer Simon Taylor immediately brought Greg McPherson (Dave’s younger brother) into the fold. With this came an even tighter bond than before and Dave promptly began penning what would become their forthcoming ‘DayDream Anonymous’ album.

"After Greg joined the band we really wanted to re-invent InMe's sound,” explains Dave. “Having my younger brother involved in a musical capacity changed the dynamic of the band, it really helped us move forward in every way as we have always had similar aspirations of what good music should be.”

“We wanted to achieve a much richer, technical sound yet still maintaining
snappy, thought-out song structures,” continues Dave. “For the heavier parts we wanted a complexity to the riffs that we hadn't really tried before, this involved us repeatedly tweaking our parts and learning to sing over tricky riffage! For the quieter, more drawn out numbers we aimed to have as much depth and  dynamics as possible. We wanted them to have as much feeling as possible, not just the vocals but the whole piece needed to feel organic and meaningful.”

Recorded at the wonderful ‘Fascination Street Studios’ in Sweden with Jens Bogren (see Opeth’s ‘Ghost  Reveries’), InMe have created an album that will seriously mess with any preconceptions you might already have as the band seized the opportunity to develop their sound.

“After hearing 'Ghost Reveries' by Opeth we were immediately interested in
Jens Bogren producing our album,” details Dave. “We had already written the album and demoed everything so we knew we wanted a crisp, tight sound that could magnify the more technical elements yet maintain as much feeling as possible...Jens achieved all this and much, much more! A true task master 'til the end he pushed us further then we thought we could go and I am so glad of this now when I listen back to the album. It truly feels like a cutting-edge album to us & fits the vision we set out for almost a year before.”

“Lyrically this album was a very therapeutic session for me personally as I had a lot of stuff stuck inside me that I needed to get out in a creative form. I lost all my hair in 2006 due to stress-related alopecia and basically had a very bad year personally and emotionally. I also split from someone I was very close to & although these things hurt me personally, it's great for getting venomous lyrics with real feeling in them! I kind of enjoy the fact that I have to go through bad things to get a song with meaning...I suppose that makes me a little masochistic. But then I'd rather that than sing about how wonderfully fluffy & sunny the world is as I like the darker, more twisted side of life!”

Now signed to Graphite Records, the band are positive about the future yet equally proud of their past.

“I still love the albums previous to this but because we were so young when
they were made I feel a little separated from them as I kind of feel like a
different person!,” admits Dave “'DayDream Anonymous' is most definitely our proudest effort and it feels great to have pushed ourselves this far and now we get to tour it for ages! Last year was one of the hardest years of my life but all the downers have just made us even more determined and hungry and so much more appreciative of the position we are in and the things we have already achieved. This album will blow you away & grow on you like a Viking's beard!"

Single ‘I Won’t Let Go’ will be released on the 13th of August on Graphite Records as a CD, 7” vinyl and download.

The album ‘DayDream Anonymous’ will follow on the 10th of September backed by a full UK tour.
