Klezmer-Balkan-Greek-Gypsy-Punk-Cretan Dance with Electro-beats

Grassroots are proud to present the Max Pashm Band at the Lamp on Sunday 23rd December for a very special Christmas party.  Doors 7.30 pm, entry £5.00 on the door.

The Max Pashm sound is a unique blend of traditional Greek/Balkan/Gypsy & Klezmer music, fused with hi energy electronic beats & digitally manipulated FX. This ethnic/electro fusion incorporates organic world sounds with warm, funky and hypnotic grooves.

Max's signature crossover sound mixes beats and traditional Greek instruments to a truly fabulous effect. Band members include Max Pashm: Keyboards, Vocals, Beats and Percussion, Merlin Shepherd: Virtuoso Clarinet and sax player, Laura Anstee: Greek Lyra, George Kypreos: Bouzouki / Baglamas.

At the Grassroots Lamp Christmas Party the band will be playing tracks from their long awaited new album ‘Never mind the Balkans, here’s Max Pashm’ which will be officially released in February 2008 on Elektrikos/Organikos Records and available worldwide.

Max Pashm rose to fame in the mid nineties as an early pioneer of ethnic/electro dance music. He released his first album 'Weddings Bar Mitzvahs and Funerals' on Sony music in 1997, a reflection of his Jewish heritage, Greek and Arab influences and love of global rhythms.

This gig at the Lamp is a rare opportunity to catch Max who is renowned for his blistering live international performances and dj sets, thrilling audiences with his unique blend of beats, live percussion and Greek, Hebrew & English vocals.

Max has remixed artists such as Robert Miles, Ekova, Simon and Garfunkel, X-Ray Specs, Sex Pistols, and Headmix Collective and has worked with Nitin Sawney, The Levellers, The Bagdadies and Pavlos Papadakis.
