Fake Festivals, have you ever heard such a thing? Well apparently plenty of you have!
'Fake festival' doesnt mean that you pitch up a tent in your back garden and pretend your at Glastonbury, as director John Gilbert explains...
You may have seen this in the various pieces of media coverage we’ve had recently, though just in case you haven’t; the concept of the tour is to take a packaged live music event to areas that have the community spirit and large enough population to sustain a small scale music festival.
The concept was trialled in June 2007 at the
The format of the festivals draws upon the talents and resources of Jez’s other businesses Fake Faces and Fake Bands Ltd meaning that visitors will have the chance to mix with entertaining celebrity look-alikes whilst enjoying tributes to some of the biggest bands in the world.
It’s a family fun day out that doesn’t take itself too seriously. For each date on the tour we’ll have three tribute bands plus support from local bands to give a touch of local flavour. Each festival takes place in a huge marquee (1,000 capacity) which is fully licensed with a reasonably priced bar.
There are now seven dates on the tour, Level M is co-promoting two dates in the East Riding.
The first is Brough Festival which takes place on Saturday 24th May at the Blackburn Leisure Playing Fields and features local bands and tributes to U2, Coldplay and Green Day. For more information see www.fakefestivals.co.uk/festival-details.html?festival_id=20

The second is Howden Rockfest, taking place at the Ashes Playing Fields on Saturday 14th June headlined by tributes to Coldplay, Green Day and the Arctic Monkeys – www.fakefestivals.co.uk/festival-details.html?festival_id=21
I’ll be at both festivals and am looking forward to some great fun. I hope you can join us for at least one of the dates.

So there you have it, the Fake Festival happening in Brough and Howden, not really a fake festival afterall because it is actually happening, more of a festival for the 'just as goods', the 'copy cats' and 'sound-a-like-lookie-likes' I'd have maybe called it the 'Phoney Festival', have a look at the video on the site though, that gives you more of a feel as to what to expect.
