Club NME spot the talent at Hulls very own YoYo!
There’s no doubt that YoYo’s move to Piper was a big one after hosting the night at Welly for so many years but it was about time that the night flew its nest from the upstairs room in Welly and got there hands on a bigger venue to show what they can really do with a Saturday night for Hulls Indie fans. After just 4 weeks of partying with Priya at Piper its proven to be a successful move.
Its gone and scooped national press this week from The NME 2007 Student guide, ‘Best Club, YoYo’ and quoted ‘The Finest Indie night. Hulls Indie institution’. Get in there YoYo!
So finally Hulls Indie scene has got something to shout about and be proud of! Av IT!
To top it off they’ve got something a little bit special going on this coming weekend with Hull 5 piece KILL SURF CITY . With very dark riffs, the theatrical look of The Dresden Dolls and fronted by a very unique sounding frontman who has the intensity and whining vocal range to out class Ian Curtis. Move over Mr Average Indie Band here comes KILL SURF CITY. With their slick, incidental twinkling and brooding melodies, KSC sit dear in the black hearts of Hull’s twisted indie kids (NME January 2007)
Its their debut release launch with ‘All I heard’ and ‘A common interest in silence’ which’ll be available on 24th September from all good record shops on limited vinyl (500 Pressed) Digital tracks available to download from itunes.
I’d get there early to avoid queues this weekend. So don’t forget YoYo, Every Saturday night, The Piper Club, Newland Avenue 10.30-3am |
