Bring Colour to Festival

Festival-goers at next month’s Brough Festival are invited to dress for the occasion and could find themselves rewarded for doing so.

Hull Colour Pages has teamed up with the organisers of Brough Festival to present the “most colourful festival-goer” with the prize of an Apple iPod Shuffle.

The East Riding village of Brough will host its first music festival on Saturday 24th May at the Blackburn Leisure Club playing fields, Skillings Lane, Brough. The festival features a line-up of tribute bands to popular acts such as Coldplay, U2 and Green Day who will be performing live to a marquee of hundreds of music fans at Brough Festival

Festival organiser Jez Lee, 36, said: "The festivals are a great way for the community to enjoy a day out on their doorstep. We want to create a real festival buzz by inviting music fans to add a bit of colour to their appearance. We hope this competition will add to the general fun nature of the event.”

Elaine Chan, Marketing Communications Manager at Hull Colour Pages added: “We are delighted to support the Brough Fake Festival and are keen to do more than just get our logo on the posters and banners. We came up with the idea of holding a competition to pick the most colourful festival-goer. We hope people really go for it and we look forward to seeing what people come along with – maybe some colourful clothes and hair colouring.”

The winning entry will be judged at the event and will be presented with the iPod Shuffle.

Brough Festival will start at 1pm inside the marquee, which has a licensed bar with all drinks priced at £2.00 and the event will finish at 11.30pm.

A fenced beer and food garden will be set up with food stands to keep festivalgoers happy throughout the day.

The line-up includes Brough's own covers band Rattlefish, Linguist, Alex Stork and The Huskies, as well as U2 tribute New2, Coldplay tribute Coldplace and Green Day tribute Basketcase.

Brough Festival’s main sponsor is Andrew Earle’s World of Travel with support from Morgan and Quinn Carpets and Flooring, Hull Colour Pages, Viking FM and Eskimo Soup Creative. The festival is part of an eight-date touring music festival presented in association with Magners Irish Cider.

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £12 for youngsters aged seven to 15. Children aged six and under get in free when accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available from Blackburn Leisure Club in Skillings Lane, Brough; Elloughton News, Main Street, Elloughton; online from

What is a Fake Festival?

Fake Festivals are held inside a massive marquee on a local playing field or village green within walking distance of the local community.

The idea of a Fake Festival is to enable families to enjoy a day out together at their local playing field or village green and meet up with friends whilst listening to some great live music. The tribute bands who perform at the Festivals are specifically chosen to cover a wide range of age groups so at least everyone knows some of the music or better still all of it! Local cover bands and local original bands are invited to perform at the Festival before the tribute bands take to the stage. Those who are interested in performing at a Fake Festival should contact us through the contact page on the website www.fakefestivals.co.uk

The marquee contains the stage, PA, lighting and the bar. Outside the marquee is a fenced area which is the food garden area where the foods stands are situated and tables and chairs to enjoy your food and drink.

Toilets are provided at the Festivals. They are either fixed toilets provided by the playing field or portable toilets brought in by Fake Festivals. At a Fake Festival even if the weather is poor you will be warm and dry inside the marquee so no need to check the weather reports.
