Bar Fusion, Cottingham Road....worth the wait? Hell yes!

After the long awaited development of Bar Fusion on Cottingham road it finally opened its doors to the public this Friday 1st February for it’s launch party.

I went along with my cameraman Brian to have a nosey with my camera.

I live near the area and had been sniffing around the place for sometime now, eager to find out what was going on behind those metal fences. I’d noticed new fixtures and fittings being added each time i drove by as i payed little or no attention to the road whilst i nosied in through the window, lighting up a fag and changing the radio station at the same time, for what i could see it looked good.

Metal fences, builders and polystyrene wrapping aside, it was finally ready for action! Welcoming its new squatters with open arms this Friday just gone.

With the area being mainly pub dominated for a while now, it was about time that we were offered something fresh in between your walk from Haworth to the takeaway and now we’ve got it!

As well as thie whiff of fresh paint, the place reeks chic with chandeliers, leather seating and huge granite bars on the right hand side of each floor and you’ll see more spins and twirls in the bar flaring skills than you will in an hours worth of dancing on ice. Pure entertainment.

Upstairs offers a little more of a clubbing experience and this Friday Deja Vu resident Rich Hardy was on decks pumping out the very best in Funky House and Electro to put you in the party mood.

It was about time that we didn’t have to venture all the way into the city centre for a bar open later than 11pm and whilst Bar Fusion does this it also keeps its punters there with it’s clubbing experience upstairs.

Hurrah! Wadda you know there IS life in this corner of the planet other than on a weekend thanks to Bar Fusion being open mid week as well as its bustling weekends.

One to keep your eye on is The Nutmeg Lounge every Wedenesday.

WTFS THE NUTMEG LOUNGE?

I was truly impressed with the new addition to the city, afterall, its about bloody time!

On first impressions, here are my scores:

Atmosphere: 9/10 – Fantastic sound system throughout the whole building, friendly bar staff, multichanging wall lighting give that funky vibe. One point away from top marks because not enough people were dancing for my liking!

Music: 8/10 – With Deja Vu resident Rich Hardy on decks your guaranteed excellent music. All your favourite Funky House and Electro songs mixed in to put you in the party mood, not one tune that you could dislike. The score is only 2 points away from top marks because after the music was at its very best, the DJ was swapped to RnB, which was fantastic BUT in my opinion i’d have started with RnB an then gone onto Funky House/Electro.

Drinks: N/A Can’t comment on this one I’m afraid, I had a coke and a sly pint in Haworth, but the rest of the crowd seemed to be enjoying their drinks! The bar was full at all times but the queue’s weren’t mammoth.

Smoking: 7/10 – There’s plenty of room to nip out and have a fag in the front fenced off area at Bar Fusion, tis a little nippy tho.

I’d definately be going back to Bar Fusion and urge anyone to try it at least once, keep an eye out for the different nights they’re putting on to please everones pallet, speaking of pallets, I still havent even tried the food!
