SEPT 6th 2007
I’m back again for another Thursday waffle. I’d firstly like to big up East Park Rocks that happened on Saturday because it was absolutely insanely brilliant! Couldn’t have asked for a better turn out, better weather and a better falafel that I got at the Lamp food stand. For those of you who missed it, you missed what could quite possible be the best day of music in Hull all year (don’t mean to rub it in!) Anyways for you let downs who didn’t turn up I’ve been at the camera work again and done a few fantastic videos of the day so you can see for yourself what you missed out on. If you got snapped up on camera at the gig in the park take a look on www.hullvibe.co.uk because there’s tons of pictures of your smiling faces that are well worth a look at.
Lets get onto what our little lost city of wonders and magical mayhem can offer us this weekend.
FRIDAY: This Friday get your party shoes on and get ready for Sexylectro presenting you Switched, a night usually run in London comes to your doorstep at Zebra in ‘Ull bringing you the best in Electro house till the sun comes up for only 6 quid. Switched residents Mike Money and DeeJayM will be hitting the mixer. There’s also 100 free copies of sexylectro vol 13 to giveaway so you can carry on the party when you get home!
SATURDAY: Ok so summer may be over but it’s not time to get out your thermals just yet. There’s an end of summer BBQ on the roof on Zebra this Saturday with summertime radio. Get there anytime after 2pm to fill your bellies with burgers and your heads with funky tunes.
Saturday night is on the horizon and it’s the long awaited return of YoYo now at Piper! The Paddingtons will be playing to celebrate its new location so if you missed them at East Park Rocks last Saturday now’s your chance to catch the musical scallywags in action and toast the YoYo crew on their return with a few vodka redbulls and quality indie tunes from the one and only DJ Priya. I’ll have the video camera out so be warned! GET SPOTTED!
SUNDAY: After you’ve woken up groggy and wiped the sleep out of your eyes, get yourself down to Queens Gardens for Hull Flood Aid from 12noon till 8. A Totally free festival to help raise some cash for those affected in the Floods. It’ll be a day packed with your favourite and best local bands all day long so plenty to keep you entertained. Get yourself down and show some support. I’ll be there.
What’s Hot:
Taxi drivers who ditch their rides to take you home. Like 4 wheeled angels after a night out who get you home safe and sound in their chariot.
Hull Flood Aid. Another day packed with local music on our doorstep. Keep it local; it’s the way forward! Be there on Sunday.
The Videos of East park rocks now on the hullvibe website! There really were some crazy cats out that day! Check them out!
What’s Not
-Toilet ladies, the ones who sit in the toilet with perfumes, make up and lollies. I Got charged £1 just to use some deodorant the other night! I thought she should be paying me to put it on after I’ve had my pits in a sweaty club. Nighttime robbery!
Fizzy water. I asked for a water in a club the other night, opened the bottle, took a swig and it turned out to be fizzy. I thought my mouth was gonna explode! I wasn’t expecting that!
Get your ID at the ready! Its seems to be that time where all of a sudden you get asked for ID everywhere you go. It’s happened to me just lately anyways. Maybe I should reconsider changing my foundation. Be warned!

Hate to piss on your bonfire, lucy, but because of the stuff that kicked off at East Park Rocks; the council has told Hull Flood Aid alcohol is not allowed, meaning there would have to be another 20-25 security guards to man the entrances to the gardens (even though there were already like 20 booked!) so because of the timescale, the event has been cancelled/postponed.
It sucks.
I was really looking forward to it aswell, just cause a few dumbass scallies cant handle their wife-beater.
Grrr.

27th September 2007...Another week, another waffle :-D
Hello! It’s Thursday! I’ve had a busy week this week keeping you updated on what’s going on on the Hullvibe website. From the opening of St Stephens, Sharkeys new sister ‘Citrus Bean’ to local and non local bands frolicking in our City. You’ll have to go online to find out what I’m flapping about because I don’t like repeating myself! We’ve also been snapping up all the fresh students at Piper last Sunday and Pozitions student night on Monday so take a look in the Hullvibe gallery.
It’s almost the weekend again and I assure you that this one’ll be better then the last if you’ve been paid this week. So here I am once again to tell you the best nights to go and waste your money on. (I say waste but we all know going out is the one thing we love spending our money on)
So here’s my pick of the bunch for this weekend.
Tonight:
If you’ve not yet got your face on Hullvibe you’re either living under a stone (rolling being the best kind) or just not getting out enough! So here’s another chance to get your mug on Hulls biggest and best nightlife and music website! I’ll be spotting at Jelly at Welly tonight and I’ll be dragging along our Hullvibe cameraman to capture another crazy Thursday night at Welly on video. Be there!
Friday:
Ok so tomorrow you’ve got live music at the Adelphi Club (bottles of vino from £7) with live music night ‘This is ‘Ull live’ tax only £3. Once that’s done and dusted at around 11.30pm you can nip round the corner to The Piper Club on Newland Avenue to enjoy the ‘Loaded’ Indie night. If live music isn’t your thing then have a few in Zest, then Sleepers and make your way to Piper from there.
Saturday:
There’s only one place to be this Saturday night if your trying to relive summer Ibiza memories a little longer and that’s the legendary Deja Vu at The Welly Club! Deja Vu has bloomin gone and whacked on another top DJ once again with Ibiza’s most wanted Oliver Lang this time round! Get there before 11.30pm and you get a free drink of your choice! And if you haven’t been for a while you’ll notice the new bigger and better front room.
Sunday:
Psst. There’s a new night on this Sunday at Residence down George Street called ‘Fat Laces’ with classic old school 80’s & 90’s all on wax (If you fancy a cheeky few without going into work with a hangover on Monday!)
What’s Hot:
-‘Kinky Tuesdays’ at Revolution! Its a new Student night with £1.50 bottles, Hot Tub Party, Indie & RnB DJs, beach party theme and prizes for the best dressed! See you next Tuesday!
-Pozition have an equally brilliant Student night every Monday called, ‘Luv Shak’ with ‘The Road to Pozition’, Sharkeys open across the road till 2am!
- We’re going to start a Hullvibe live lounge so if your in a band or fancy seeing one of your favourite local bands performing some old school cheesy pop on camera then let us know!
What’s Not:-We’ve been promised a heated smoking terrace outside The Welly Club for some time now. Instead, every time I go past all I see is the bloody builders stood outside havin a fag. Hurry up lads, its getting cold!
- There are so many places that put on live music on a Wednesday it’s getting impossible! Lamp, The Dorchester, Durty Nellie’s, Adelphi and Ringside and I’m yet to invent a way to be at 4 places at once!
- I’m offering local bands to get their tunes and videos on the big screen in the City Centre and you’d think they’d be jumping at the chance but they need an online kick up the backside! Come on guys!

Anyhoo, im always going to post it in here first before i send it to them so the hullvibe users see the real deal of this waffle chit chat
I really want that bloody photo changing too, its terrible

Welcome to the first October weekend waffle. My Summer shorts haven’t seen further than my wardrobe drawers this year and already its time to put your Hull Fair coat on! Hull should be proud to have Europe’s largest travelling fair at its doorstep tomorrow so make sure you take sometime during the week to have a wander round, weather its to pig out on candyfloss and toffee apples or to spend 40 quid on trying to win a massive teddy that you’ll only throw in the loft to gather dust. I love it!
If the winter cold is already getting down your neck, here’s an idea for you. I went to the new student night ‘Kinky Tuesdays’ at Revolution on Tuesday only to find that there was a steamy hot tub placed in the middle of the dancefloor! And people were stripping down to their undies to take a dip! that ought to warm you up!
Heres what happening this weekend:
Friday: Sexylectro will be hosting their Ibiza closing party this Friday at the Zebra Club. With Ibiza theme fancy dress, Hawaiian Shirts, Straw hats etc
Free bottle of bubbly awarded to the best dressed Ibiza clubber, free ice pops and free CD giveaways! -If you haven’t been away this Summer maybe Zebra this Friday is gonna be the closest you’ll get! Opens from 11pm till stupid 0’ clock in the morning, 7beans entry.
If you like getting down to dirty DnB then The Welly Club will give you all your Drum and Bass needs with Goldie playing at another classic Shinobi night. Open 10.30 till 3am. 9beans entry.
Saturday: Saturday nights are all seeming a bit ‘samey’ just lately, do you agree? Well if it’s been a while since you spent Saturday in the ‘Ex -Room’ George Street beauty Attic, this Saturday is the night. The nights named ‘Dirty’, which doesnt mean the staff haven’t had a wash but they’ve got Marc Dennis (love2be, one foot in the groove) DJing with live P.A from Alexis Hall (Hollyoaks in the city, Soulfuric) playing dirty house with a mix of funky retro beats. Upstairs the always awesome Andy T will be playing nasty RnB * Hip Hop to get you down and dirty all night! costs just 5beans b4 12, 6beans after.
Alternatively Hulls beautifully talented Kill Surf City are holding their single launch at no better than YoYo at Piper, so it should be a special one!
Sunday: I always think food on a Sunday, so heres a few of my favourite munch hangouts, which i think you might like too. Zest, they do pizzas until 11pm weekdays and 1.30am weekends so saves you going to the takeaway!. Lamp, have a brilliant food selection ranging from platters for 2 to Falaffels in Pitta, Dukes do gorgeous lasagne! and if your feeling a bit Jazzy, enjoy some munch and live Jazz in Pave.
Whats Hot!:
A New bar, ‘Tru’ has opened on Cottingham road, just a few doors down from Haworth and almost opposite Garderners to add to the selection on ‘Bev Road corner’.
Local bands wanted! to be filmed performing cheesy pop classics for Hullvibes new Live Lounge! contact us on www.hullvibe.co.uk
New Top Totty! we’ve scoured the gallery and found 10 of Hulls hottest of this week, vote for your pick on the ton tens section of www.hullvibe.co.uk
Whats Not!
The free afterparty from Deja Vu now costs you £3.50 to carry on at Propaganda, so make sure you’ve not spent all your pennies!
If your nipping out for a fag in Revolution i’d reccomend going out the front as the back Terrace gets super full super fast!
Dont forget to tie your shoelaces tight and zip up your pockets at HullFair peeps.

Weekend Waffle With Hullvibe.co.uk
Ibiza closing parties have some to an end but Hull’s nightlife doesn’t. And neither do the amount of ladies staggering around the town still wearing short skirts and dresses. I don’t mean any offend these ladies, I just don’t know how they do it! When I’m out this weekend I’ll have my long johns and duffel coat on, much more practical and snug if you ask me.
Anyhoo, I kept warm in a sweaty Linnet and Lark on Tuesday night and caught another 3 brilliant local bands, I snapped up a few shots of fellow faces, which are all now in the website gallery. Whilst I was there, cheeky chappy Mak very kindly slipped me 5 VIP membership passes for the after party at Grapevine to give away on the Hullvibe website, so log on, rake up your points and I’ll hand you one over!
There’s not much left of the working week now so here’s how you can get over it before a long awaited weekend.
TONIGHT!
Unless you spent all summer hiding under your bed you’ll remember which nobody’s became somebody’s in this years Big Brother. Tonight Ziggy will be sprucing himself up and getting the party started at The Sugarmill (he’s that good looking one who goes out with the Victoria Beckham look-a-like one). So if you fancy a bit of ‘lar de dar’ you can meet, greet and kiss the feet of the celeb tonight.
Tomorrow:
Call me a traitor but I went to Doncaster last Friday to see Maximo Park. I made up for city skipping by seeing Hull Band Kill Surf City whilst I was there so don’t slap my wrists just yet. But partying on a Friday is the best thing to do, that way you’ve got 2 days to repair your liver. Get yourself down Beverley Road to The Welly Club tonight for Blended Elements and Funky. If you’re into a bit of DnB, breaks, break-dancers, Electro Funk and soul, it’ll be right up your street (well it’ll be up mine, I live on Bev road).
Saturday: We all know that Saturday night tele is about as riveting as trying to dry the Humber with a hairdryer so you might as well go out. To guarantee a packed fun filled night with no beef I suggest going to Pozition on George Street. Have a cheeky few in town first to warm up your feet because there are plenty of dance floors to hit in Pozition!
Alternatively Deja Vu are holding Hed Kandi ransom until 4am at The Welly Club.
Sunday:
Don’t stop the weekend yet folks because this Sunday the Hullvibe video crew are going to Biarritz! It’ll be THE place to be this Sunday night to bust some serious RnB moves till late so drink away those Monday morning blues and join the crowd at Biarritz down George Street. See you there and GET SPOTTED!
What’s Hot:
We’ve searched and searched the Hullvibe gallery for Hull’s very own celebs and picked out 10 of the BEST celeb look-a-likes in the city. Have a gander on our top tens section and Vote for your winner!
- If your into Drum and Bass, I’ve got a few tickets to Pendulum at Shinobi in one of my pockets and you can have one if you gather up your points on Hullvibe
- Hullvibe Users band Fine 69 are holding their EP launch at Adelphi this Friday so get on down and show some support! Hell yeah!
What’s not:
- Facebook, I just don’t understand it. There’s far too much ‘poking, sending of fish and writing on walls’ for my liking.
-Beware when ordering a double vodka redbull at a bar, get one with a friend and share the can otherwise you could be paying up to a fiver for a drink! As Hullvibe user Peter the Pirate so rightly informed in our chat space.

Right. This is Serious now, there’s only 4 more weekends to go until Christmas. 4 more weekends of stuffy shopping and 4 more weekends of letting yourself loose before making those dreaded New Years resolutions. BAH!
And to top it off the next few weekends are gonna be absolutely freezing so make sure you take out your big coat when going out this weekend, it may now go with your outfit but you’ll thank me on Saturday night when your stuck waiting for a taxi in the middle of town crying of cold. You’ve been warned
Last weekend was great for live music thanks to the YoYo bunch at Piper. You can watch the video of our Exclusive Interview with Holloways Alfie and Rob on Hullvibe right now!
We’ve also got another video of Hulls 1st ever snow street session that happened last Thursday night so if you missed it, you can catch the video online now in our videos section.
Here’s where you can keep toasty this weekend:
Friday: Tomorrow night is the launch party of Nousse magazine at Attic on George Street, open to everyone! with live music from Rag n Bone, The Neat and Lecorum. tickets are £6 with 2 for 1 offers on many drinks and it’s open till 2am! Winner!
Saturday: I’ll be living up the wonders of my works ‘xmas do’ this Saturday, one of many to be had around the city centre at this time of year. Always advisable to avoid parties clearly on ‘xmas do’s’ as they’ve usually been drinking straight from work at 5pm and end up clubbing in their suites at 2am - Not that my xmas do will be anything like that!
If your looking to keep warm this Saturday then The Welly Club is the place to be, with Bodyrox hitting the decks in the Ballroom at Deja Vu and Deja Vu Daddy (Terry Deja Vu) steaming the decks in room 2. Dot Dot Dash will also be on top form upstairs, playing Indie, and electro funk.
If you fancy whipping into town for something fresher than a baby chick sprayed in Frebreeze then Attic are launching a brand new night, ‘Electrotherapy’. Electronic music. House, Electro House, Tech House, Progressive, Minimal, Breaks, Downtempo, and Drum n Bass all for £3 entry - You couldn’t get a Margarita Pizza for that!
Sunday: Usually not a lot to chose from, but yet again live music will be taking place at The Weir Bar and Grill in Hessle, and if you fancy yourself a bit of a budding James Morrison or Amy Winehouse, it’s open mic too - This doesn’t mean kareoke, some form of talent is needed!
Fuel will be buzzing as ever with cheesy classics in the main room if you really want to spend Monday with a hangover!
What’s Hot:- Boots 3 for 2 , I know where everyone’s getting their presents from this year!
- Kaiser Cheifs are coming to Hull on Tuesday, now that’ll be a riot!
-You can win a tenner if you send your pics in to pics@hullvibe.co.uk! -we give £10 away every week!
What’s Not:
- Spending all your wages on Christmas shopping and not yourself.
- Puddles outside the Adelphi- They’re not puddles, they’re more like 50ft drops

Firstly Merry Christmas! It’s officially December now and already I’m seeing plenty of houses with Christmas lights up, so I can’t deny it any longer, Christmas is on it’s way.
It’s not all spend, spend spend, tis the season to go out and party! So weather your enjoying a work Christmas do or getting out to one of the many brilliant club nights that this city has to offer at this time of year there’s definitely reason to celebrate!
If your not sure how to make it through the jolly holidays, log onto Hullvibe.co.uk for Christmas Do’s & Don’ts and how to survive from Shopping and wrapping to Christmas day itself.
Now November’s out of the way everyone seems to be that little more crazy and a little more up for it! Here’s how you spend this weekend celebrating Christmas early;
Friday: Tomorrow is our Hullvibe Christmas where the whole gang won’t only be capturing your night on camera but doing it Santa Style! with a bag full of goodies and cameras at hand, so make sure you make it out tomorrow to join in the fun as we make our route to The Piper Club with a fair few stops around the city on our way. So if you’ve got a Santa hat shoved upstairs somewhere please drag it out tomorrow night so I don’t feel quite so stupid!
If you like DnB then you’ll be pleased to know that Shinobi is back again this week, enter the Welly jungle at your own risk!
Saturday: If your skint from Christmas shopping then maybe you’ll fancy Pozition this Saturday. A classy club that doesn’t charge rip off prices on a Saturday night with cheap entry, cheap drinks and still great music to dance too.
This Saturday welcomes back Sexyretro at The Zebra Club and if your a Classic House fan I bet you a fiver you’ll be dancing to your old faves all night miming, ‘I love this song!’ to your mate on the dancefloor! They’ll be giving away free CD’s too! so even though the clubs open till early morn, you can carry on the party at home afterwards if you can handle it!
Sunday: If you fancy chilling out this Sunday but have itchy feet when it comes to staying in then look no further than Princes Avenue. I’d recommend some quality food from any of the quality cafe bars and restaurants on the popular city stretch followed by a few drinks in the Linnet & Lark for ‘Souled out Sundays’ with DJ Mak (The Sesh/Grapevine) plus special guests each week playing Sweet Soul Music from the vaults of Motown, Stax and Atlantic, alongside a few old Northern gems from Wigan Casino and the likes.
What’s Hot:
We’re giving away free tickets to The New Years Eve Party at Déjà vu and YoYo! All you have to do is be the last person to post in the forum, its easy! log on to hullvibe to find out more!
JAZ bar on lowgate have a new refreshed look, Not that there was anything wrong with the old JAZ! check it out on Friday.
Since the smoking ban in July, The Welly Club has now almost finished its new smoking terrace! About time! -Check out Hullvibe to read all the changes
What’s Not:
I attended the Kaiser Cheifs gig at Hull Arena on Tuesday night to be told that once you were in the building, like Royston Vasey, you could never leave weather you wanted a cigarette, were on fire or had lost a limb.
Town. I know its almost Christmas but it’s getting way too crowded, Christmas shopping is turning into an Olympic sport the way you have to hurdle over buggies, fight for the last prezzie on the shelf and see how long you can stand in a queue for

READ TOMORROWS WAFFLE BEFORE IT GOES TO PRINT!-
Ive also come back to posting it on Hullvibe first as by the time its gone through the printers it seems to have been edited by the editing monkeys that live upstairs so here you are, have it raw!
Understandably January is a bit of a downer for all. Dark mornings, blizzard winds, pelting down rain and we’ve even had a breif visit from Frosty the snowman to top it off.
With it being the first month of the year, my well earned ‘Lucy fund’ vanished on Xmas presents and buying things i don’t need but can’t say no to in the January Sales, leaving myself short of two brass buttons to rub together, let alone a pint down the local.
So this week I’ve vouched for nights to suit people in the same boat as me, or folks who’ve planned to save more moolah as their New Years resolution. I present the weekend Pocket Pinchers!
I’ve scouted the city, eyed up the different venues and nights and caluculated where you can have the best nights out for the cheapest prices, ruling out a bottle of Cider at your local bus stop.
Tonight (Thursday): I’ve chosen this venue for tonight for many reasons. It doesn’t matter what type of music your into or how old you are, you’ll definately find something you love about this place. I’ve seen people in this venue from 18 to 58 and not once have i seen anyone with a grumpy face! With a choice of 3 floors with 3 different genres of music, plenty of room to move and a constant flow of cheap drinks at just £1.20 a Vodka boost you can’t go wrong. Pozition, George Street and its only £3 entry all night. Giving you a great atmosphere, music of your choice, 4 bottles/Vodka boosts, including entry into one of Hulls biggest and best nightclubs to a grand total of (drumroll please) £7.80! Now thats a bargain!
Friday: Ok, for a cheap night to fill your belly i’d suggest booking yourself and a few friends into Mex cantina on Lowgate in the City Centre, if you go any weeknight and eat before 9pm you’ll get a whopping 50% off your bill! Having trying it out with a few work friends last month we each had a starter, main course with 4 bottles of wine (between
and we each paid a total of £13.50 each! Another bargain!
As for live music i’d suggest getting down to either the Adelphi Club for some rocking live metal music from Hull Band Fine 69 who, after winning Battle of The Bands in Hull are getting ready to set sail to Sunderland for the regional heat on Saturday. If that doesnt tickle your fancy then you can enjoy some equally brilliant live music for free and a little less sweaty at the Lamp with The Cliques, Go Go kings and Turismo performing live.
Saturday: So, if you’ve followed my lead you’ll have now had 2 nights out, one partying and booty shaking fest and one gorgeous Mexican meal for a total of around £21.30 – Now thats cheaper then what you’d normally spend on one night, is it not?
Well lets not stop the pound savers and with all the money you’ve saved you can get yourself out again this Saturday.
Everyone once in their lifetime must have been to this legendary local club. Spiders, first opened in 1979 and has resisted much modernisation since, but thats why it’s loved so much. Known for its crazy cocktails and ridiculously cheap drinks, why not re-visit those metal and mod memories with a trip down memory lane, or in this case, Cleveland Street. You could probably drink everything on the cocktail menu and have spent under £20 and as a bonus, I’ll be nipping down there myself with the Hullvibe camera to capute the night and faces on camera for the Hullvibe site.
I hope I’ve given you a few ideas on how to spread out your cash over the weekend, afterall there’s nothing worse then having no money, nothing to do and sitting at home feeling sorry for yourself, so i hope i’ve proved that theres life in your wallet yet! If there’s nothing that i’ve mentioned that you like the look of then visit www.hullvibe.co.uk to find out what’s going on everywhere else in our city this weekend. Have a good one.
What’s Hot:
Attic- Have launched a new night, ‘The Gig’ Indie night now every Thursday playing the very best in indie music. Ideal if your after a refreshing change of scene on a Thursday night. Why not try something new this New Year?
Retro- After browsing the Hullvibe chat area i noticed that Retro had posted to mention their double Jaegerbombs are only £3! If you’ve not tried a Jaegerbomb, do it! You wont regret it, well not until in the morning, and £3 is a bargain as most places charge over £2 a shot – There’s another little pound saver!
The Welly Club- Under the Influence are bringing Manchester legends in waiting, The Courteeners to The Welly Club next Thursday.
What’s Not:
Kick Riot- Their lead guitarist Joe Vickers has departed, but this does leave an empty gap to fill in on the Kick Riot stage! If your interested visit their myspace www.myspace.com/kickriot
We still have plenty of prizes to claim on Hullvibe including free club entry tickets, Jack Daniels T Shirts and Hip Flasks! Register to get your hands on the freebies before they go! All you have to do is collect points on the site!

17th January 2007
Welcome to another miserable Thursday in January. It seems that the whole of 2007 went quicker than this snails pace month that has already been filled with the weather of all four seasons! I hope last weeks money savers worked a treat when getting yourself out to drown those January woes and hopefully you should have change left in your purse for this weekend. I’m back again with a few more money savers this time around so you can declare a protest against this miserable month, down with January! Despite whatever Mr weatherman throws at us, we are ready, we are Hull and we’re ready to party!
Tonight: Manchester four-piece The Courteeners, tipped to be as big as the Arctic Monkeys, are playing at The Welly Club tonight. This is one of the few dates in their tour list that isn’t sold out! Tickets are just £7.50 on the door for some true ear delicious indie music from 8pm till 11pm. Reccomended!
Friday: Breaking News for Shinobi fans! Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control Adam F will not be attending the Shinobi jungle as previously listed over the world wide interweb. But due to popular demand of Hulls best Drum&Bass night the show will still go on! The never dissapointing Shinobi residents will be taking over the decks for a bargain price of just £2 entry! And with £200,000 splashed on sound and re-furb I’m sure they wont dissapoint!
Saturday: Fancy a freebie? Hulls very own, ‘The Neat’ will be playing this Saturday at YoYo at The Piper Club and after witnessing a top notch live performance stay and party with DJ Priya for an evening of the very best Indie music to get your toes tapping and tails wagging. Just log onto the site for your chance to see The Neat for nothing! www.hullvibe.co.uk .Winners will be announced tomorrow on the website, what are you waiting for? It’s free!
If you fancy something a little sexier (not saying that there’s anything un-sexy about The Neat of course!) and prefer Rihanna to Reverend and The Makers then Darren Gourlbourne will once again be playing at Biarritz for ‘The Capital of RnB’. Join the sexy party and brilliant atmosphere for just £2 entry from 10.30 till late!
As always theres much, much more going on this weekend but if I told you about everything that’s going on this short piece in todays paper may turn into the size of the yellow pages. To have a look for yourself log onto www.hullvibe.co.uk for plenty more options! Don’t forget to share your nights out with the rest of Hull by emailing us your pictures to pics@hullvibe.co.uk or shouting about them in our forum! Have a good one.

I’ve had a relatively good week this week about and about like a little picture pixie, snapping all your nights out on camera and catching any new and exciting things coming to Hull. I caught the fantastic Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong gig that took place at the Adelphi club last Saturday. They’d been tipped for big things by NME as had The Courteeners that came to Hull the Thursday before but compared to Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong it was like swapping a Rivita cracker with a 12” Sub of the day from Subway. They just had a lot more character, volume and filling with a lot more originality in their music. You can read the full review and take a look at the pictures on www.hullvibe.co.uk, afterall I’ve learnt you can’t trust everything you read in NME, what do they know? stick to Hullvibe! and if you think i’m talking rubbish you can have your say!
Ready for another weekend? Here’s what’s happening;
Friday: The long awaited Bar Fusion on Cottingham Road is ready for action! Not only Is this a swanky new bar to add to the Cott Road collection but Bar Fusion also offers something which the Cottingham Road area has lacked for many years...a dancefloor! It launches the Friday for a new night, ‘Panache’ with no other than Deja Vu residence Rich Hardy on decks, and we all know he knows how to make a party! for more info check out www.hullvibe.co.uk if Rich Hardy has got you in the dancing mood at new Bar Fusion then why not carry on the party till early doors at Twisted Grooves at The Zebra club? you bound to hear some equally delicious dance tunes to keep you dancing till the morning!
Dance music not your cuppa T? don’t forget you’ve got the Piper Club just around the corner bursting with Indie tunes with DJ Priya at, ‘Loaded’.
Saturday: There’s gonna be one huge party at Deja Vu at the Welly Club this Saturday with the stunning Kate Lawler DJing in the ballroom, lock up your fellas ladies. I’m tying a blindfold to mine.
If you don’t fancy clubbing then why not make a trip down Newland Avenue and have a few in Zest and Sleepers? There you can have a relaxing night with no queues at the bar, no shouting to talk to each other and seeing as though Zest is open till VERY late you can still enjoy a Pizza at the end of the night -they’re served till 1am! Brilliant!
Sunday: If you don’t fancy moping around the house on a Sunday then I reccomend a few at the Linnet & Lark on Princes Avenue for, ‘Souled Out Sundays’ with DJ Mak. This night has got busier and busier over the weeks as DJ Mak churns out the very best of Soul music to polish off your weekend nicely.
We know Princes Avenue isn’t always open as late as we’d like it to be so why not carry on the party at Biarritz?! The busiest place to be on a Sunday night till late with the very best of R’n’B with DJ Toots (Pozition) playing tunes to help you bounce off those Monday blues! And its Free entry!
What’s Hot: -The Grapevine every Tuesday at Attic. I went snapping some pics there this Tuesday and the dancefloor was explosive! With DJ Paddy upstairs, Satisfaction Steve and Mak downstairs I wished I was on the other side of the camera for once!
- We’ve got loads of freebies to give away to the registered users on the Hullvibe site, all you have to do is earn points by chatting on the site to claim your freebies! Its like getting paid for having your say!
- Bar Fusion! the hot new venue/club/cafe bar opening this Friday! The Hullvibe cameraman will be catching it on video this Friday, so have a peek on Hullvibe if you can’t have a peek in person!
What’s Not:- Sadly The Weir Bar & Grill in Hessle is no longer, Chris (the manager) would like to thank all the customers who supported them. He would like to say that he might see you back in the city centre soon! Keep an eye on Hullvibe for updates!

Firstly I’d like to apologise for my lies in last weeks waffle. I worngly in formed you that Bar Fusion on Cottingham Road would be ready for opening last Friday but unfortunately due to technical difficulties of the electricity kind it had to keep its doors shut for just one week longer. Although my knowledge of what’s going on in Hull aint half bad, my abilities to see into the future still need a little work.
As for other goings on in the city, we’ve got a new video online of the GST Cardinals before they set off on a huge tour around the UK, which you can watch online on www.hullvibe.co.uk now along with plenty other videos of your nights out.
Been paid this week and ready for the weekend? Here’s what i’d do if i were you;
Thursday: Payday! Give yourself a treat with a few beers at Attic for its first ever live night at, ‘The Gig’ a new Indie night offering a fresh alternative to your usual Thursday route. Local legends, ‘Turismo’, and ‘The Dirty Dreamers’ will be playing to satisfy your live music needs.
Friday: If you ask me, making the public wait another week for the new Bar Fusion has only added to the excitement of waiting to see the brand new venue and i’m informed by a very reliable source that it definately will be opening this Friday! I’ll be there with the video camera so if you can’t make it you can always watch the video on Hullvibe.co.uk. If your an eager beaver and just can’t wait till tomorrow night, check out the Hullvibe website for a few sneeky snaps of the place before its opened to the public.
Fancy a few straight from work? I’d reccomend Jaz Bar on a Friday night, with delicious new cocktails, brilliant music and more spins and twirls in the bar flaring then you see in an hours worth of dancing on ice. Fab.
If you fancy tickling your ears with a bit of local live music get yourself down to The Attic nightclub for the Nouse magazine party with live performances for The Holy Orders and Kill Surf City.
Saturday: After the Welly rocked blonde bombshell Kate Lawler last week, Deja Vu have gone an topped it off with another this Saturday! The Pacha Princess Sarah Main will be Djing at Deja Vu this Saturday night. Fancy a free ticket? Come and get them in the Chat area on Hullvibe.
Rewind is back with a vengence at The Attic (Formerly Room) this Saturday night and has all weapons necessary to give you a top night if you fancy doing something a little different this Saturday night. I’ve just realised that i’ve reccomended The Attic every night this weekend but you’ve got to admit there’s some action happening in the place!
If your out and about elsewhere this weekend have a good one and don’t forget to shout about it on Hullvibe and you can earn yourself freebies as well as £10 cash by sending in your party pictures.

I’m feeling particularly chipper as I write this weeks waffle, the sun is shining, and promises to for at least another 10 mintues. I saw the brilliant Hull born Lecorum playing live at The Sesh at Linnet & Lark last night so i’ve stuck on my oversized headphones, and am listening to their songs whilst I type, drowning out the office jibber jabber in the background perfectly. To top it off i’ve just found a pound in the bottom of my jeans pocket. Brilliant. This is gonna be a good day.
As promised I went to check out the new Bar Fusion on Cottingham road last Friday and for those who still dont know what to make of it you can check out the review online on Hullvibe.co.uk or even better, see for yourself without even having to put any pants on by watching the video online on Hullvibe, there’s plenty of pictures in the gallery for you to have a nosey at too.
Onto this weekend, slap my wrists but I myself am City hopping to Leeds this Friday, i’m not being a traitor to Hull but I doubt I’ll be able to see the NME shockwaves tour from my bedroom window, i’ll bring plenty of photo’s home so you can have a gander online.
Friday: In Hull of course, If your not helping yourself to seconds at another Friday night at Bar Fusion then there’s only one other place to be this Friday, Pozition. This is an unmissable Friday night at Pozition as they’ve captured T2 to perform an xclusive DJ set at, ‘Shenanigans Valentines Music Massacre’. T2 is the producer of the smash hit single, ‘Heartbroken’- what a song! And he’ll be joined by 5 other DJ’s on the night to bring you nothing but the freshest Hip Hop, RnB, Garage and Baseline this side of the Humber! To top it off, Hull’s finest Hip Hop act ‘The Gang’ will be performing on the night.
If you fancy partying on a little later this Friday then there’s only one place to be, ‘The Rouge Club’ –Thats Zebra to you and me, but it’s had a facelift, straightened out it’s party dress and got itself a new name. Underground at The Rouge Club presents Frenchy, Basics in Leeds resident keeping you on the dancefloor till the early morn with a pre party at Revolution.
Another one to get your toes tangling this Friday is Electrotherapy at Attic, offering two floors of electronic music with some of the cities finest DJ’s from top nights such as Shinobi and Blended Elements to get your hairs stood on their very ends. Breaks & Drum&Bass Upstairs and deep dark dirty house downstairs, take your pick.
Saturday: Why not show some support for some of our very own local legends in music at the moment, GST Cardinals and Fine 69. GST Cardinals will be headling at The Adelphi Club this Saturday, back in their hometown inbetween their massive tour around the UK, let the guys see some familiar faces and get yourself down their. Fine 69 are also doing it for Hull at the moment as they’re 8 bands away from grabbing onto a £5000 prize in a huge Battle of the Bands, they deserve some hullgrown support before they hit the finals!
Fancy clubbing this Saturday? Paul Woolford will be Djing at Deja Vu at The Welly Club this Satuday and upstairs at Dot Dot Dash The Pistolas will be performing live, live music and clubbing all under one roof.
Obvioisly there’s plenty more going on this weekend so for full listings log on to www.hullvibe.co.uk.
What’s Hot:-We’re giving away tickets to see Boy Kill Boy and Art Brut! Fancy a freebie? Get yourself online on Hullvibe and bag yourself a ticket
- I wandered into the Groovy boutique on Saville Street last Saturday only to notice they were have a mammoth sale, I managed to bag 2 jackets and 3 dresses for a fiver! Now there’s a bargain! See for yourself.
- You can get drinks for as little as a quid if you quote ‘Hullvibe’ behind the bar at Retro’s Funky House night!- look on Hullvibe for more details on more bargains!
What’s Not- I’m not going to catch any of the great nights in Hull this Friday, although I will be dancing along to the likes of The Cribs in Leeds, there’s nothing like a party in your own home!
- Getting stubbed in the toe by stilettoes. They should be illegal, the evil blighters, there’s nothing worse then screaming in pain after you’ve been stood on just because someone can’t walk in their own shoes. It’s just not fair.
