Its the old Silhouette (spelling??). Fridays are run by DJ chippy who used to do the Bug nights at Zebra. It is trying to be the new spiders but i dont think it will be.
It costs £3.50 to get in.
Ill be taking my £3.50 and spending it @ Ringside as it is free entry, open til 2 with the Rock night, prizes for fancy dress and also a free gig upstairs.

i would not even dream of comparing this to spiders, as word has it it is going to be nothing like that place for a hundred and one very good reasons. And it is certainly not trying to be the new spiders as no one has mentioned anything about creche facilities or baby sitters being employed.
i have seen it, i have heard the sound system, and it is very, very good.
It has been set up by Sheffield Corporation, one of the top alternative rock clubs in the U.K. and they have brought in people to run it who are enthusiastic and ready to offer Hull something it does not currently have.
entirely up to you whether you want to support it, that is what the freedom of choice is all about, but there are plenty of people out there who have been upset by the attitudes and policies of a club elsewhere, who are welcoming it.

I think it is good that another club is opening in Hull. I just heard a roumor that it is taking on spiders but...as you rightly said. I also know Chippy who will put his heart and sole into it. He is a good lad and a talent to Hull.
I say good luck to it... there again. I aint been to spiders EVER so i have nothing to compare it too (i was too old and dressed too smart...lol)

i stopped going to spiders 8 months ago when my 15 year old neighbour started going and wanted to share taxis home ! She horrifies me with stories of what is going on in that place with regards to the music, fights breaking out, flares being let off upstairs and increased activities of a certain nature going on in the toilets for drinks, which, i must add, she finds hilarious. That certainly is not the crowd Code are after and i am sure Code would be the first to admit, Spiders are most welcome to keep them.
And from friends that still go occasionally, the music being forced upon the djs working there is aimed at catering for the high school musicool clientle, in playing indie music and the likes of Katy Perry ? We all heard how Goth and industrial music such as Combichrist, metal like Hatebreed and Chimaira, Emo Music like Fall Out Boys - Beat It and alternative dance music like Pendulum had been banned by the owners for not being suitable to their tastes, now it seems like Rock is dead also as far as spiders is concerned. As that is what Corporation and now Code will be all about, the two places just can not be compared.
Code will not be to everyones tastes, but to those that want that taste, they now have got it. Good luck to them.

hull does need another rock club i reckon. i havent been to spiders for years for the same reasons as sir_les_mutrie, the novelty wore off by the time i was legal to be in there and a whole new generation of emos, punks and loud mouths started running around the place. Lets hope this new club will be a little more respectable

I myself would love an alternative to spiders because I agree its a bag of shit since it turned into a youth club.
But I would prefer to go to code after its been going a few weeks, usually first nights of clubs arent very lively.
Definatly going to check out the myspace though.

lol, i know what you mean, 27 park street has not had a very good history in recent years has it ? but if people do not try to make things interesting and make it work, then failure can be expected. it was hoped code would have opened a few weeks back, but unfortunately it did not, so the target date was put back for halloween weekend, which all clubs considering, might not have been the greatest of ideas. having said that, i personally think it looks awesome inside, (lick of paint, new colours, new lights) the sound system is very good, the people behind it are very enthusiastic and know "others" present failings. give it a couple of weeks for word to go around and people will be hopefully be impressed and and it will take off. if code are after any particular kind of clientle, it is those that have given up on spiders and definitely not those that presently go to run around and play tig whilst singing a long to "i kissed a girl" ! ! ! !

ive just had a facebook event invite saying that its the opening night tonight. fkin ell they havent promoted it. i didnt have a clue.
is this new rock club only gonna be open weekends? are they putting on live music? no f**ker even knows about it. if they arent arsed at promotin it then i cant be arsed to go. nuff sed

i am sure it was yourself who earlier posted that you "hope this new club will be a little more respectful" ? yet you follow it up with a post like that after revceiving an event invite ?
flyers have been placed around the town in the places that they were wanted to be placed in for three weeks. the myspace and face book groups have been up and running and sending out invites for around the same length of time. i presume that somehow up until now, your personal invite must have inadvertantly been missed, so on behalf of whoever, sincere apologies crankyharold.
will be saying next that you are not aware of the four different rock nights presently running on a wednesday night in hull ?

We were absolutely RAMMED Friday night and not bad Saturday either!

(only kidding, from what Ive heard, it plays similar stuff to us.)
We do everything from cheesy pop rock like Kid Rock and proper 80s hair bands(!) to new releases and pre releases as our DJ works for a radio station.
