Re: Club NME moving to Saturdays? - Posted: 3 months ago
i picked up a flyer the other day for junes club NME at welly, and its only now ive noticed it says "every saturday" not thursday.. so it seems like its switching nights (replacing dotdotdash(RIP) upstairs i suppose). if thats the case i fear it could be the end for the (IMO anyway) perfect club night that was Welly on a Thursday - a couple of (usually) quality bands followed by three rooms of great music. okay the music will still be the same, and i dont doubt it will still be as popular as it ever was, but for me anyway it wont be the same without the bands.
and as for Club NME itself, i suspect that might suffer as well; much as i enjoy the bands on a thursday, theres never that many people watching them, and i reckon a lot of those who are there didnt come out for the bands so much as the rest of the night. so youd lose that section of the crowd, and god knows there arent many in hull who will take a chance on an artist they havent heard of (the number of times ive seen great bands in adelphi with about 5 other people..). i dunno though, hopefully ill be wrong, and itll go from strength to strength. and that.

yeah i noticed that too. i think its a much better idea. the bands that play on a thursday arent getting the crowd they deserve, most ppl are just bothered about having a piss up.
dot dot dash was dying of death anyway and could do with the extra attraction of live music there to get ppl in.
itll be like YoYo at welly all over again

does that mean itll be like the old yoyo all over again?
Re: Club NME moving to Saturdays? - Posted: 3 months ago
well i hope its popular. should be a great night, if enough people go to it... and i dont see why they bloody wouldnt (although thursday drink prices would be nice, hint etc). ill certainly try and get people along anyway, it just might be tricky seeing as most of my friends are students and have either buggered off home or run out of money

the schoolgirls are support there this saturday. I definately recommend seeing them! Also . . .they are a million miles from indie. Which seems to be a common complaint in the MP3 chart comments.

Definately a good idea! Therefore people who are at work on a Friday morning can now consider coming along. I do agree with some of the people above, Thursday night drink prices for the win!

i dont think it should move to a saturday at all, welly was the only good thing to do on a thursday!
its like a tradition, moving it to a saturday will just change the crowed totally,
instead of been called club nme people will start calling it club chav m e
stay thursday!
its a tradition!

Welly should not move to a saturday, it ruins the tradition of it all
Its really popular on a thursday and will not go down well to everyone as they all prefered it to be a thursday too
On a Saturday people go to spiders so welly will have as many people as it does on thursdays
Dont swap the days over, it will be a disaster in my eyes
Live bands are ace that come to welly so dont spoil that either
