i am so pissed off. I just wrote literally about 2000 words about the pros and cons of every aspect of the big chill, and then it disappeared.

my conclusions were basically, yes, you should go, if you like a good mix of music but you don't mind that you've never actually heard of any of the acts.

I'm seriuosly fuming about losing that typing

depends what music you like really... it's not all 'Chillout' but it is mostly pretty chilled. reggae, triphoppy stuff, nu-jazz, etc. some more energetic dancey stuff and some d'n'b but a rock festival it most certainly is not.

the festival happens in the grounds of Eastnor Castle in the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire (or Gloucestershire or somewhere like that); about halfway between Birmingham and Bristol. you can drive it in about 4 hours or get a train to Great Malvern (canhge at Birmingham NS, then Ledbury) and then there is a cheap ish minibus service from there to the festival.

www.bigchill.net

not the most easily navigated website I've ever used

I've been to this coupla times as its near where my parents live

While its a 'nice' enough weekend its not a crazy action packed weekender like some of them, which is how I prefer my festivals

A lot of the acts are likme stuff u get in chilled out bars but which is a but borin to see live

Although if you ever wondered where all the old crusty types who sit in the cornner of the dub tent drinkin special brew at those free festivals you get in parks in the summer tend to go for a bigger festivcal .....its here

Plus there seem to be a lot of old weed smokin hippies there.....acid casualties my dad calls 'em

and old white people prtetending to be black

And my parents still go someytimes which is enough to put meoff for life

lol

each to their own i suppose.

the crusty types and aging hippies are out in force, this is true, but when we went in 2007 it seemed like a younger crowd than when we went in 2005 and 2004. the music policy had shifted accordingly. although there was still a lot of chilled stuff in the daytimes, you could have a proper party on a night.

one more thing, when i've been, there seems to be a large amount of hull peeps in attendance so you should be able to get a lift-share if you want one.

some good points there! thanks peeps! does seem a bit far to drive to tho, i can hardly kkeep my eyes open to drive back from Leeds festival after a weekend of toomuch booze and not enough sleep so i think i'll be a walking car crash if i drove!

as for the crusty hippie types, i quite like them actually I'll see who i can round up, defo worth going then?

I'll have a gander at the site and see if theres any tickets left, i think i've been ponderin for too long now!
