Just read on Hullvibe's front page about Kiki n Bouba, the new bar in Hessle. Sounds a bit high concept (read=wanky) to me. What happened to just going out for a drink somewhere where the atmosphere was dictated by the music policy rathe than some arty concepts about shapes and market research into what fonts people relate to a made up word? Maybe I'm too old (26). I'll reserve proper judgement until I can check it out for myself

However it did say at the beginning of the piece that the Weir is back in business... what's going on? My mate worked there and was mighty pissed off to be told they were all being made redundant. I think it would have to be in serious trouble to close after less than 6 months of trading, after spending 500k on the refurb. But to reopen 2 months later... sounds like some sort of dodgy tax fiddle to me. Allegedly...

good point to chillwalk- you dont research the venues name before you go for a drink to make the clincher on weather you go or not!

all far too deep and meaningful! I wont be going, 1 because its in hessle and 2 because it looks like big fun from the outside!

Hessle strikes me as being a bit like Beverley.....ideas above their station

Put a couple of crappy boutiques and a couple of pretentious bars in a parochial backwater and all of a sudden they think they live in Shoreditch or Islington

suppose its alright for the locals but given the choice of going there to prince av theres a clear winner!

never been one for shopping or drinking anywhere out of my catchment area to be honest, theres just no point!
