For those of you that don’t know Beverley, your probably thinking, “quiet little
town, few nice buildings and a big cathedral”....well people you couldn’t be more wrong!! Of course Beverley does have those things...but it is also the pub crawlers dream with approx (let me try count them) 12 pubs all within 1 mile of each other, 7 of those being slap bang in the main square!!! (and for a small town that isn’t bad!) And that’s just in the centre of the town, if you wanted to open your wings and explore the wonders that Beverley holds you will find that there are many other pubs dotted here, there and everywhere!! .....52 pubs in total to be precise!! Yes people, us Beverley folk enjoy a good drink, everything from real ales, cocktails, and a sophisticated glass of vino, to vodka jellies, pitchers and for those of us who really know how to drink, pints of Strongbow!!!
There are places to suit all ages in Beverley, but talking from a personal point
of view, the main square is definitely the place to be. Not only do you not have
to walk far before falling into another pub, but you have a mixture of lively and quiet pubs to choose from. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are definitely the days to explore this quiet little market town as those are the nights it come alive (so to speak).
The Push and Jaz Bar both offer great drinks offers on a Thursday night and the great thing is they are both completely different kind of pubs. If you want a cheap place to go and drink & dance, then Push is definitely the place for you, with its cheap pitchers and its good sized dance floor this is the place for all the movers and the shakers amongst you. But if you would prefer a cheap, but quiet evening, then Jaz Bar is the place to venture to. With its yummy cocktails and its comfy chairs it’s definitely a place for the conversationalists.
Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest of the three, with The Push,
The Beaver and Cross Keys playing some great music that fill the dance floors.
With Cross Keys staying open until approx 2.30am on a Friday and Saturday night this is the nearest Beverley gets to a nightclub. With its newly refurbished back room, mirrors and bubble like flashing lights, it’s the best place to go to end your night and throw those dizzy shapes on the dance floor!
All in all Beverley is quite a “bangin” place to go, but I cant finish this review without mentioning the best Kareoke in Beverley which is held at The Buck Inn on Beckside on a Saturday night. Hosted by the talented Shane McMurray and Dave Kyte from the Hull Band Kal-Els Cape, if you fancy a sing song this is the place to be (shameless plug but had to be done lol).
So as you can see there is something for everyone in Ye Goode Olde Beverley, so say it loud, say it proud, and spread that Beverley Vibe!!! :oD
